Omaha World-Herald (OWH) endorsement
Robert Hilkemann, District 4, currently served by Sen. Pete Pirsch, who is term-limited. A retired podiatrist who demonstrates wide-ranging knowledge of his district, Hilkemann stands out as a dedicated and hardworking candidate.
Hilkemann has devoted commendable energy to studying key Nebraska issues and educating himself about the Legislature’s processes and the ingredients for effective service. He offers thoughtful observations on issues, including health care and tax policy. He displays a diplomatic temperament important for moving things forward and building consensus when working on committees.
For the six Omaha-based seats for the Nebraska Legislature this year, we found these candidates of particular merit: John S. McCollister, District 20; Michael Tesar, District 18; Merv Riepe, District 12; Sen. Burke Harr, District 8; Joni Craighead, District 6; and Robert Hilkemann, District 4.
